The composition of the aboveground phytomass of the most productive communities of the highlands in the Teberdinsky National Park – the subalpine tallgrass – has been studied. The aboveground biomass averaged 813 ± 134 g/m2, the species of various forbs absolutely prevailed (77%), the role of grasses is small (22%), the remaining groups of vascular plants, mosses and lichens are very rare. Communities differ in polydominant structure, the largest aboveground biomass is formed by Angelica tatianae (20.3%), Milium effusum (13.4%), Ligusticum alatum (12.9%), Cephalaria gigantea (9.5%), Rumex alpinus (6.0%), Heraculum asper (5.6%). The reserves of aboveground mortmass are insignificant (280 ± 18 g/m2), which indicates a high rate of decomposition and an intensive biological cycle small.
