This article describes the dynamics of the number of moose in various types of habitats on the territory of the Yuganskij nature reserve, according to the results of the statistical analysis of long-term data from ZMU (1988–2019). We have identified four types of habitats, optimal for moose among them are dark coniferous and small-leaved taiga. In these biotopes, the average long-term abundance of moose is higher and more stable than in others. The pine taiga is inferior to them in terms of the quality of living conditions, besides the moose avoids raised bogs, using them mainly as transit ones. This is confirmed by the values of biotope preference coefficients calculated for each type of habitat. The synchronism of fluctuations in the density of the moose population in different types of habitats is in good agreement with its biotopic preferences. We also calculated the spectra of periodic components of moose population dynamics in various types of habitats. Analysis of this data helps to identify elements of cyclicity. Cyclicity in different biotopes has both common and distinctive features.
